INSPECT YOUR TIRES AT LEAST ONCE A MONTH
CONVENIENT MAZDA TIRE SALES AND SERVICE SOLUTIONS IN SHREWSBURY
As simple as they are, your tires perform a vital function: keeping your vehicle firmly planted on the road. To ensure they can perform this function effectively, it only makes sense to bring your vehicle into our MAZDA service department in Shrewsbury near Red Bank to have your tires properly serviced. Since we work on hundreds of tires every day, we are well-equipped to keep your tires in optimal condition.
Tire Rotation
The most basic tire maintenance that we do at Schwartz MAZDA is tire rotations. We do this to ensure even wear across all four tires since each tire is subjected to different forces depending on where it is mounted on your vehicle. Although an interval of 6,000 to 8,000 miles is recommended, it's a good idea to bring your vehicle in sooner if you frequently drive in stop-and-go traffic or if you drive on a lot of curvy roads.
KNOW YOUR TIRES
Either you or your MAZDA technician should inspect them for damage, uneven wear and tire pressure

CHECK YOUR TREAD WEAR
The tread on your tires can tell you more than how many miles you’ve logged. Worn tires should be replaced when the tires’ tread-wear bar meets the tread. Have your tires inspected regularly and do not drive on a damaged tire or wheel. Visit your authorized MAZDA Dealer for a Full Circle Service inspection to check the wear of your tires for your safety and to maintain your vehicle’s best performance.
Note: Measure tread depth away from the tread-wear bar.
Driving on bald or worn-out tires can make driving unsafe on Shrewsbury roads, so it’s important to be mindful of the depth of your tire treads. Rather than having to deal with changing a flat tire, take preventative measures and learn how to monitor tire tread depth courtesy of Schwartz MAZDA!
Please refer to your tire warranty guide for additional information.
THE PENNY TEST
Tread depth is measured in 32nds of an inch. Tread depth on new tires typically measures 10/32 inches or 11/32 inches (about a third of an inch), while trucks, SUVs, or winter tires may have deeper treads. When tires reach 2/32 inches, the U.S. Department of Transportation recommends replacing them.
Note: To check whether you’ve hit the 2/32-inch mark, use the penny test as follows:
Note: To check whether you’ve hit the 2/32-inch mark, use the penny test as follows:
- Place a penny in a tire tread groove with Lincoln’s head face first in the groove.
- Check if Lincoln’s face on the penny disappears between the grooves.
- If it does, your tread is still above 2/32 inches. If you can see all of Lincoln’s face, it’s time to replace your tire.
- Make sure to repeat with all tires and in various places on each tire.
There are a few other ways for drivers in Shrewsbury to check tire tread depth, including using a tread depth gauge and tread wear indicator bars

Air Pressure Check
Proper air pressure is an easy-to-overlook maintenance item. Unfortunately, overlooking this maintenance item can have many negative effects, including reduced fuel economy, poor tire wear, inadequate grip and handling, and many more. While we have your vehicle in for service, we'll check each tire to ensure it's properly inflated according to the manufacturer's specifications. If they're not already, we can also fill your tires with nitrogen to help increase your fuel economy.
