Serving Shrewsbury, NJ

The 2020 Mazda3 has received the award for World Car Design of the Year. As you prepare to take home your next compact car, you may wonder how this popular model compares to the Honda Civic. The Honda Civic has been offered for almost five decades, and it continues to appeal to many drivers. Which of these models is a perfect fit for your needs?

The Mazda3's exterior shows off an eye-catching design that was introduced last year with the debut of the car's fourth generation. This sedan is visually stunning with smooth surfaces that have subtle curvature to reflect the light perfectly. The modern appeal stretches across the front end with a black mesh grille flanked by slanted LED headlights. A chrome accent bar runs along the lower portion of the grill and follows outward below the lights to tie all of the design elements together. In comparison, the 2020 Honda Civic is included in a generation that debuted in 2015. Its hood and sides have a crisper definition. At the front end, the thin grille is comprised of two black bars. These are integrated with the headlights.

The appeal of the Mazda3 spreads throughout the interior. The dashboard has an artistic feel with an angled touch display screen rising between two contrasting sections. Below this eye-catching feature, linear elements carry across the panel horizontally and down the center stack vertically. Across the four trims, the 2020 Mazda3 is impressively outfitted with standard or optional features like leather seating, a powered and sliding glass moonroof, a superior sound system, smart device integration, and other equipment. In the Honda Civic for 2020, the center stack holds the touch display screen in a central position. Above this screen, two large air vents protrude outward slightly, causing the top of the dashboard to jut upward. Some available features are mounted steering wheel controls, a push-button ignition, a sound system, Bluetooth tech, and more.

All four trims of the 2020 Mazda3 are equipped with a Skyactiv®-G 2.5-liter engine that produces 186 horsepower. These trims also come with an automatic transmission, front-wheel drive, G-Vectoring Control Plus, and other gear. In comparison, the two lowest trims of the 2020 Honda Civic receive 158 horsepower from an I4 engine. The turbocharged engine that is included in the top three trims of the 2020 Civic produces 174 horsepower.
