2020 MAZDA3 Sedan vs 2020 MAZDA3 Hatchback

Serving Shrewsbury, NJ

The impressive Mazda3 made waves during its 2019 model year with the introduction of its fourth generation. The 2020 Mazda3 Sedan and the Mazda3 Hatchback both reflect all of the thoughtful updates that were made at that time. Their appeal is so notable that these cars have been recognized with the 2020 World Car Design of the Year award. With the striking similarities between these two vehicles, your toughest decision may be deciding which vehicle to take home from Schwartz Mazda.

The Mazda3 Sedan and the Mazda3 Hatchback for 2020 are both powered by the same four-cylinder, Skyactiv®-G 2.0-liter gas engine that generates 186 horsepower. In the top Mazda3 Sedan trim and all of the Mazda3 Hatchback trims, this powertrain has cylinder deactivation. Through all trims, the powertrain is tied to a six-speed automatic transmission. However, the top Mazda3 Hatchback trim is also available with a manual transmission as an alternative. These models are both front-wheel drive vehicles with a rear torsion beam suspension, an independent MacPherson front strut, brake assist, and other gear.

As you might expect, the 2020 Mazda 3 Sedan and the Mazda3 Hatchback have almost identical front ends with unique body styles and profiles. These models share their crest-like grille with black mesh backing, angled and stretched LED headlights, and a smooth, sloping hood that is perfectly sculpted. The only significant difference on the front end of these vehicles is found across the lower fascia. This thin, black area on the Mazda3 Sedan has three contiguous sections. On the Mazda3 Hatchback, this area has a single black piece. This accent feature is highlighted by strong definition on the body-colored fender. On the rear, these vehicles are notably different. The most substantial difference is linked to their body styles.

Throughout the trim lines, you will find comparable interior designs and features with a trim-by-trim comparison. Some of the items that are found in both of these models include a push-button ignition, mounted steering wheel controls and paddle shifters, a dual-zone auto climate control system, leatherette material, heated seats, power and memory functions for the driver's seat, Bluetooth tech, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, USB ports, a Bose sound system, SiriusXM satellite radio, a MAZDA CONNECT™ infotainment system, voice commands, a multi-functional Commander controller and many other features.

Our Schwartz Mazda team will not be happy until you finalize your purchase of a beautiful Mazda that meets your expectations and needs. Are you available to compare the trims for both of these models in person soon? Schedule a Mazda3 test drive appointment with our sales associates.
